Obama Plays Host To German Chancellor At State Dinner

In Washington, US President Barack Obama hosted German chancellor Angela Merkel for a state dinner aimed at smoothing over differences in policy and boosting friendly relations. During her address, Merkel stated that Germany’s partnership with the US was quote “indispensable”. The German leader was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom because of her groundbreaking career as the country’s first female leader.
