July 30th, 2010California cops seize billions worth of pot plants
California just got a whole lot less mellow. Police in the Golden State seized 1-point-7 BILLION dollars worth of marijuana plants in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. 450 officers took part in the raids throughout the Sierra foothills and found more than 100 locations where the plants were being cultivated. It’s believed Mexican drug cartels were responsible for the grow ops..
Budweiser name granted for use all over Europe
The battle of the beer kings is over. The European Court of Justice has ruled that Anheuser-Busch can NOT have exclusive rights in Europe to the Budweiser name. The global brewing giant has been in a 14-year battle with Czech brewer Budvar, who also uses the Budweiser name in several European markets.
2 million dollar car given the boot outside London shop
A 1-point-9 million dollar luxury car was booted outside Harrod’s department store in central London. The Koenigsegg (Ko-nig-segg) CCXR was parked illegally in front of the store end to end with a Lamborghini Murcielago, both painted an identical shade of neon blue. The vehicles could possibly belong to the Qatari royal family who bought Harrod’s for 2-point-3 billion dollars in April.
Roseanne star Sarah Gilbert comes out of the closet as a lesbian
It was one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood, but actress Sarah Gilbert – best known as Darlene on Roseanne – has finally come out of the closet. She made the announcement at a press conference promoting her new daytime talk show called “The Talk”. Gilbert has been with her partner, tv producer Allison Adler, for eight years.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler replacing Ellen Degeneres and Kara DioGuardi on American Idol
Ellen Degeneres is OUT. After one season as a judge on American Idol, she says it just wasn’t the right fit for her. With Simon Cowell gone and rumours of Kara DioGuardi getting booted, it’s believed Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will join original judge Randy Jackson, and bring Idol back to a three-judge system.
Washington Redskins Albert Haynesworth fails conditioning test and sits out first day of training camp
It’s a tough start to the season for Albert Haynesworth! The Washington Redskins defensive lineman was benched at the team’s first day of training camp because he failed a conditioning test. He’ll get a re-do every day until he passes it, and hopefully give the Redskins some return on his hundred million dollar contract.
