US officials have declared a state of emergency in Michigan’s Kalamazoo County, where a pipeline owned by Canada’s Enbridge Inc. has burst, flooding the Kalamazoo River with some 800-thousand gallons of oil. It’s already being dubbed the largest oil spill in the history of the Midwest, and could do some serious damage to local water supplies in southern Michigan.
FBI nabs notorious cyber hacker in Slovenia
The FBI is celebrating the capture of one of the world’s most notorious cyber hackers. Authorities tracked down the 23-year old programmer, nicknamed Iserdo in Slovenia. He is believed to have designed the mariposa virus that’s infected close to 13 million computers worldwide. The virus collected and relayed personal banking info from peoples’ PC’s.
Olympic housing development in Rio displaces thousands
The Olympic games are heading to Rio di Janeiro in 2016, but ONE area of the city won’t be shown to the world. The slums of Rio are being BULLDOZED to make way for NEW communities. 260-thousand homes and 13-thousand families are expected to be displaced in the process.
